Drama. Earnestly compelling, deep rooted in the definitive characterization of what it means to be a family, this original play eloquently mixes love and laughter amidst tragedy and the consequences that befall due to life choices and personal gain. Family, passionate and energetic, captures the very essence of how we and those most closely to us operate under distress and tender moments. It tells the story of loss, infidelity, purpose driven life, and what we do to ease the pain and find comfort. Playwright Joseph “JoeP” Palmore effectively conveys the art of life as we live it and how we can be affected by the loved ones who surround and influence us.
FAMILY: Thicker than water. The Prater’s have recently lost the patriarch of the family, Buddy Prater, and try to cope with grieving under the scope of meddlesome relatives and broken relationships. Maybe the only intervention that can shift their lives from further loss is the pending arrival of their newest legacy. With the widow Mama Ruth Prater, speaking now as the head of the family, they will struggle through to realize the enduring message of Buddy that “Family, whether you like it or not, is all that you got.”
The show will run January 24th – February 2nd 2014. Times: Friday (8pm), Saturday (8pm), and Sunday (3pm), at Frenetic Theater, 5102 Navigation Blvd, Houston, TX 77011.
Ticketing: Pre-sale $20/ Door sales $25
