Houston Fringe Festival "Producer's Pick" acts Jim Mackenzie(2012) and ChinaCat Dance(2011) are teaming up to present Ignite- A Night of Dance, Comedy, and Danger at Frenetic Theater on December 14 at 7:30pm and 10:00pm. Jim Mackenzie brings his one man show paired with ChinaCat's company of fiery dancers. Get ready to light up the night with a dazzling array from fire juggling to fire fans, whips to torches, plus comedy and a few surprises. There is something for everyone in this fired up, fun variety show, so come one, come all!


Jim Mackenzie performs his one man comedy show around Jim-Mackenzie-One-Man-Show.jpgthe country. A Houston native, Jim began his performing career in 1986 at The Houston Festival, performing in the street and passing the hat. He has since developed his show at festivals, theme parks, comedy clubs and colleges around the country, including The Las Vegas Comedy Festival. In 2008, he was enlisted as Director of Clowning and performer for the Houston Grand Opera's production of Pagliacci. He most recently appeared at this year's Houston Fringe Festival, where his show was chosen as a Producer's Pick, marking the beginning of his quest to develop his own full theater show with bigger things planned in the near future. Jim draws from an extensive list of physical skills for his comedy show including juggling, sword swallowing, rope walking, whip cracking, unicycling, and other object manipulations. fire4.jpgChinaCat Dance has been performing throughout Texas since 2008. They have presented a variety of dance styles from modern to jazz, musical theater to ballet. ChinaCat also produces evening length fire performances, blending contemporary dance with a variety of fire tools to create unique dance presentations. Their performance highlights include Big Range Austin, Luminaria- Arts Night in San Antonio, a concert at the historic Arneson Theater on the San Antonio Riverwalk, Brazos Contemporary Dance Festival, Houston Fringe Festival in 2011 and 2012, the Barefoot Brigade Dance Festival, and Glow- an evening length concert presented through the FrenetiCore Artist-in-Residence program.
