This performance explores the questions: Does violence within us manifest externally in our world? Does love and peace within manifest outwardly in our lives? What kinds of darkness are we harboring deep within us? And, is there a beckoning light of hope and inspiration within us that is waiting to burst forth?

Inspired greatly by writings from Kazuo Ohno's book " From Without & Within," this performance brings to light conflicts from our past and present in hopes of inspiring a new generation of people to work for peace and nonviolence for all of humanity.

Incorporating elements of Japanese BUTOH, postmodern dance, multimedia, and performance art, we cordially invite you to join us for this journey as we explore the depths within ourselves and of the greater collective.

HANA HANA Performance Collective is a postmodern, interdisciplinary, experimental dance performance collective based in Houston, Texas. Influenced primarily by Japanese Butoh, Hana Hana Performance Collective combines Eastern and Western movement principles and performance art influences, along with the use of image projection, to share deeply personal stories of the heart and the soul that highlight the most beloved and most feared elements of the human condition.
