In The earth and the stars were silent, Bret Harmeyer appropriates elements of scientific and medical illustration and sublimates them into embodiments of an inner vision. Using a variety of media including drawing, painting, and sculpture, the works explore the mysterious embedded within the real. The forms delineated in these works exist in a liminal space between seen and unseen as the tangible is subsumed into the otherworldly.

Bret Harmeyerstudied at the Savannah College of Art and Design before moving to Houston in 2000. He works in both two- and three-dimensional media, chiefly watercolor and assemblage. This will be his second exhibition as part of the Frenetic Theater's Artist Board program. In addition, he has participated in many group shows in the city and elsewhere in the United States.
