Opera is timeless. It gives us the chance to share entertaining stories, cultural traditions, political statements, and unconquerable love. It provides the opportunity to laugh, to cry, to relate, and to believe, all through a high level of intelligent music and genuine artistry. Rossini has remained famous for hundreds of years because of his comedic pieces, his most famous being "Il Barbiere di Siviglia", or "The Barber of Seville". Another work of his that includes even more dynamic characters, even more
memorable music, and even more unbelievably crazy antics is his "Il Turco in Italia". Celebrating its 200th birthday last year, "Il Turco" has been surging back into popular demand and into opera houses around the world, but until now it has not made its way into a professional venue anywhere in Texas. This May, that all changes.
